Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has reported a robust first half of 2024, with electrified vehicle sales exceeding expectations. TMNA sold more than 454,000 electrified vehicles, accounting for 38.3 percent of its total sales volume, and achieving a significant 67.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

TMNA’s June sales reached 193,120 vehicles, a slight decline of 1.2 percent compared to June 2023. However, sales of electrified vehicles in June surged by 64.5 percent, totaling 84,781 units, and representing 43.9 percent of the month’s total sales.

In the second quarter, TMNA sold 621,549 vehicles, marking a 9.2 percent increase. Electrified vehicle sales for this period were 247,347 units, a 63.1 percent increase, constituting 39.8 percent of total sales.

For the first half of 2024, TMNA recorded sales of 1,186,647 vehicles, up 14.3 percent. This period saw electrified vehicle sales of 454,197 units, demonstrating a 67.9 percent rise, and representing 38.3 percent of total sales.

Toyota Division posted June sales of 164,777 vehicles, down 2.3 percent. The second quarter saw sales of 532,809 vehicles, a 9.2 percent increase. For the first half, sales reached 1,019,436 vehicles, a 14.7 percent increase. June electrified vehicle sales grew by 69.8 percent, representing 45.3 percent of total sales. First half electrified vehicle sales rose by 71.8 percent, accounting for 38.6 percent of total sales.

Lexus Division achieved its best-ever first half sales in its 35-year history, with 167,211 vehicles sold, up 11.9 percent. June sales increased by 5.9 percent to 28,343 vehicles. The second quarter sales rose by 9.3 percent, totaling 88,740 vehicles. June electrified vehicle sales climbed by 33.7 percent, representing 35.9 percent of total sales. First half electrified vehicle sales increased by 46.5 percent, making up 36.5 percent of total sales.

Jack Hollis, executive vice president of Sales, TMNA, attributed the success to the company’s diverse portfolio and customer focus, noting the 29 electrified vehicle options available from Toyota and Lexus, which contributed to nearly 40 percent of total sales through June.
