IRVINE, Calif., July 1, 2024 – Kia America announced a record-breaking performance for the first half of 2024, achieving the highest first-half EV sales in the company’s history and marking the second-best first-half total sales. The Sportage SUV and Forte sedan emerged as the brand’s best-selling models during this period.
In June alone, Kia sold over 5,000 all-electric vehicles for the third consecutive month, with total EV sales reaching 29,392 in the first half of 2024. This represents a 112% year-over-year increase, highlighting Kia’s strong momentum in the EV market.
Four Kia models set new first-half sales records: Carnival (+18%), Forte (+13%), Sportage (+11%), and Seltos (+1%).

“Kia’s leadership as a sustainable mobility solutions provider and our growing selection of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric utility vehicles are delivering one of the most balanced lineups in the industry,” said Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales Operations at Kia America. He highlighted the anticipated arrival of the first-ever hybrid Carnival MPV and an updated K5 sedan, predicting increased consumer demand and showroom traffic in the year’s second half.
Kia also showcased its all-electric EV6 and EV9 models at the Electrify Expo Long Beach, offering attendees ride-and-drive experiences. Furthermore, Kia is part of the IONNA charging network coalition, headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, alongside BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, MB, and Stellantis.
