The 35th BMW International Open will take place from July 3-7, 2024, at Golfclub München Eichenried. Organised by BMW since 1989, this event remains the longest-running tournament on the DP World Tour under the same name and partner. Here’s a comprehensive guide to this year’s event.
Historic Farewell for Bernhard Langer
German golf legend Bernhard Langer will make his final appearance on the DP World Tour, offering fans a chance to bid farewell to the two-time major winner. Langer’s participation marks a significant moment in the tournament’s history.

Eagles for Education
BMW will continue its “Eagles for Education” initiative, donating €1,000 for every eagle scored to support Munich-based organizations “JOBLINGE” and “Kick ins Leben,” which aid disadvantaged youth. Visitors can contribute by donating their €20 deposit from powerbanks available at various vending machines on-site.
Spectacular Long Drive Show Match
On Thursday evening, after the day’s play concludes, the 18th green will host “Launch Control – A Longdrive Competition,” featuring world champion Martin Borgmeier and top competitors Ryan Gregnol and Sam Judah. The ladies’ competition will see Sonya Knebel compete against Cassandra Meyer and Gabi Powel. This event promises to be a thrilling spectacle, concluding with an “After Work” party featuring DJ Bernhard Fleischmann.
Hole-in-One Award
Players have the chance to win the fully-electric BMW i5 Touring, the traditional Hole-in-One Car, by making an ace on the 17th hole.
Prize Money and Competitors
The tournament boasts a prize fund of $2.5 million, with $425,000 awarded to the winner. The field includes top international players such as Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Danny Willett, and Patrick Reed, as well as German stars like Martin Kaymer and Max Kieffer. Former winners, including Thomas Bjørn and Martin Kaymer, will also compete.
Pro-Am Tournament
The Pro-Am tournament on July 3 will feature sports legends, including Welsh footballer Gareth Bale. Admission is free, with shotgun starts at 08:00 and 13:30.
Bavarian Day
On July 5, visitors dressed in traditional Bavarian attire will receive a free drink. The day will feature performances by indie band Loamsiada and Bavarian folk dancing in the Tournament Village.
Tournament Village
The Tournament Village will showcase BMW’s latest models, including the all-electric BMW i7, BMW XM, and the BMW i5 Touring. Visitors can participate in activities like the BMW Foot Golf Challenge and the BMW Longest Putt for a chance to win prizes.
Youth Engagement
The event aims to inspire young golfers, offering free admission for under 16s and special programs for schoolchildren and junior golf teams. The BMW Kids Parcours will provide fun and educational activities.
NTT DATA Wall and Digital Experience
The NTT DATA Wall in the Tournament Village will display live images and comprehensive statistics. Fans can also follow the event online with a multimedia offering, including a livestream, live leaderboard, and player tracker.
Live Coverage
Sky will broadcast the event live, with coverage available on pay TV, Sky Go, and sport1.de. Free-to-air broadcasts will also be available on Sport1, covering key moments of the tournament.
Sustainable Transportation
A fully electrified BMW shuttle fleet, charged with 100% green electricity, will be available for transportation. Free shuttle buses will run from Ismaning S-Bahn station to the venue from July 4-7.
Visitor Information
Visitors can reach the tournament site by car via the A9 motorway, following local signposts to the designated parking areas. Parking is free, weather permitting. Tickets are available online, with free admission to the Pro-Am on July 3.
