A remarkably preserved Porsche 911 GT2 from 1996, boasting only 30 miles on the odometer, is expected to sell for an astounding £1.4 million at auction. This exceptional vehicle, finished in vibrant Speed Yellow, has covered just over one mile per year since it was manufactured nearly three decades ago.
The 911 GT2, designed primarily for the track, is powered by a Type M64/81 engine equipped with twin-KKK turbochargers.
Despite its minimal mileage, this 186 mph motor comes with a single Recaro race seat and a roll cage, highlighting its racing pedigree. With 480 bhp, it outperforms the street version, which sold for £200,000 at the time of its release.

The auction, managed by RM Sotheby’s, is set for May 11, as reported by Luxury Auto News. A spokesperson for the auction house provided insights into the car’s history and specifications: “This car wears the vibrant Speed Yellow paintwork with which it left the factory in April 1995.
The Porsche is believed to have been delivered new to its native Germany, with the invoice of its first owner dated July 1995.”
Inside, the 911 GT2 features a minimalist cabin wrapped in a yellow roll cage, and it is equipped with a single Recaro race seat to match its race-ready GT2 badge. The car later made its way to the United States, where it has been used sparingly throughout its life.
The spokesperson added, “This sensational Porsche is simply unmissable in more ways than one. Its Speed Yellow finish will make the 911 stand out wherever it is taken, while its low mileage makes this an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a remarkable car that set a benchmark in Porsche performance.”
This auction represents a rare opportunity for collectors and Porsche enthusiasts to own a virtually new 1996 Porsche 911 GT2, a car that not only embodies the pinnacle of Porsche’s racing heritage but also remains in pristine condition due to its exceptionally low mileage.
