Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is leveraging the grueling 2025 Tire Rack One Lap of America to test and refine its upcoming line of HRC Performance Parts.
A specially prepped Acura Integra Type S equipped with prototype components is currently competing in the event, which spans over 3,000 miles and features nine racetracks in eight days.
The effort is part of HRC’s broader push into customer-available performance upgrades, following the launch of its new performance parts business announced at the 2024 SEMA Show.

Behind the wheel of the Integra Type S are Ohio-based Honda engineers Justyn Bobinski and Chad Gilsinger, representing a partnership between HRC and the Honda of America Racing Team (HART)—a volunteer crew of Honda associates.

Another Acura entry, a TLX Type S, is being piloted by fellow engineers Clay Duval and Brian Penza. Both vehicles are shod in Bridgestone tires tailored for high-performance driving, with the Integra on RE-71RS and the TLX running Potenza Sports.

The One Lap event, running from May 4 to 10 and beginning and ending at Tire Rack HQ in South Bend, Indiana, includes stops at top circuits such as World Wide Technology Raceway, National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park, and Virginia International Raceway.
The event provides extreme conditions ideal for evaluating performance parts under real-world stress, with direct data and driver feedback contributing to product development.

This trackside R&D ties into HART’s mission of giving Honda associates hands-on motorsports experience while enhancing future Honda and Acura vehicle performance. HART members also participate in major racing events like Pikes Peak, IMSA, and the American Rally Association, helping to bridge the gap between grassroots racing and production car innovation.

The initiative further reflects Acura’s performance-focused DNA, with a model lineup rooted in “Precision Crafted Performance.” All Acura vehicles sold in 2024 were built in the U.S., emphasizing the brand’s domestic manufacturing strength and racing pedigree.
HRC USA, formerly Honda Performance Development, now operates in sync with HRC Japan to support global racing efforts, including Formula One from 2026 onward. The U.S. arm remains deeply involved in both amateur and professional racing, supporting development across all levels from karting to INDYCAR and IMSA.
