Ken Ramirez, Hyundai’s EVP and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business, emphasized the brand’s mission to deliver real-world, production-ready solutions that meet the growing demand for clean, safe, and efficient transportation.
Tailored for North America
The upgraded XCIENT truck is powered by a 180 kW hydrogen fuel cell system using dual 90 kW stacks, supported by a 72 kWh battery and a 350 kW electric motor delivering 2,237 Nm of torque.
With 10 hydrogen tanks (approx. 68 kg capacity), it offers a range of up to 450 miles and supports a gross combination weight of 82,000 lbs. The U.S.-specific Class-8 tractor variant is built for heavy-duty logistics including port transport and regional haulage.
Driver-focused interior upgrades include a dual 12.3-inch digital cluster and infotainment screen with physical controls. ADAS features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Smart Cruise Control, and enhanced blind-spot and near-collision alerts.
Scaling Hydrogen Logistics Across the U.S.
Hyundai showcased milestones from its ongoing U.S. hydrogen operations, including the NorCAL ZERO project, where 30 XCIENT trucks serve the Ports of Oakland and Richmond. Since September 2023, the fleet has logged 450,000 miles of zero-emission container transport.
Meanwhile, Hyundai’s HTWO Logistics initiative, in partnership with GLOVIS America, has deployed 21 XCIENT trucks to handle nearly 50% of delivery logistics at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia, using on-site hydrogen production and fueling.
Hyundai also unveiled plans for HTWO Energy Savannah—a Class-8 hydrogen refueling and EV charging station being developed with HydroFleet and Capital Development Partners near HMGMA. Set to launch by the end of 2025, it will serve as a blueprint for scaling hydrogen logistics nationwide.
Expanding the HTWO Ecosystem
At the expo, Hyundai positioned its hydrogen division, HTWO, as an open platform for global partners and investors across the hydrogen value chain—from production to application—accelerating decarbonized transport infrastructure.
XCIENT on Display and Test Drives Available
From April 29 to May 1, the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck is on display at Hyundai’s booth at ACT Expo 2025, alongside its hydrogen systems and business model showcase. Attendees can also test-drive the truck to experience the next generation of hydrogen-powered transport first-hand.
