Opel is bringing back one of its most charming Easter eggs with the launch of the new Grandland SUV—hidden sharks embedded in the car’s interior.
These miniature design features have delighted Opel drivers for nearly 20 years and continue the brand’s tradition of blending bold design with a sense of fun.
Debuting with high-tech touches like adaptive Intelli-Lux HD lighting, Intelli-Seats, and eco-conscious materials, the Grandland also offers a playful treasure hunt.

Tiny shark silhouettes are hidden throughout the cabin, tucked beneath trays, around charging docks, and inside compartments—visible only to the keenest eyes.

The tradition began in 2004 when designer Dietmar Finger’s son suggested sketching a shark into a glovebox rib.

Since then, every new Opel model—from the Zafira to the ADAM and now the Grandland—has included at least one shark, with locations kept secret even from executives.

“This small detail inspires big emotions,” said Design Director Karim Giordimaina. “It’s proof of how thoughtful design can create moments of joy.”

The shark hunt will continue in the upcoming Opel Frontera and future models, ensuring that Opel fans of all ages can keep discovering surprises beneath the surface.
