Volkswagen is boosting its in-car entertainment by adding PAC-MAN Championship Edition to the AirConsole app, now available in select parked models. Using a smartphone as a controller, players can enjoy the game on the infotainment display.
VW is the first automaker to sync the gameplay with ambient lighting—and for compatible ID. models, the ID. Light strip—creating a more immersive experience where the car reacts visually to the action.

The game sticks to its classic roots—PAC-MAN gobbles dots and dodges ghosts in a maze—but adds a VW twist. Players can score bonus points by collecting redesigned icons shaped like the VW Beetle, VW Bus, and Golf IV R32, plus logos like GTI, GTX, and R. Power pellets even appear as the Volkswagen logo, letting players chase down the Ghost Gang.
AirConsole, developed by N-Dream in collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., is the first car-specific gaming platform, turning the infotainment system, audio, and lighting into a full-blown gaming hub.
It caters to casual players of all ages and reflects customer feedback for more entertainment features. VW sees this as a way to make gaming a shared, intergenerational in-car activity.
The app is available in many European markets for ID.7, ID.5, ID.4, ID.3 (running ID. Software 4.0 or later), as well as the Tayron, Tiguan, Passat, Golf Variant, and 2025 Golf.
To play, users need a Volkswagen ID, an active VW Connect Plus subscription, and an internet-connected smartphone. The app must be downloaded from the In-Car Shop before use.
