For over 70 years, Chevrolet has been crafting specialized police vehicles, evolving from modified consumer models in the 1920s to today’s cutting-edge, pursuit-rated fleet.
It all began when law enforcement agencies started equipping retail GMC and Chevy models with radios, lights, and reinforced brakes to meet operational needs.
A pivotal moment came in 1955 when Chevy introduced its first factory-installed police packages with the One-Fifty sedan and Two-Ten station wagon.

These vehicles featured heavy-duty components and the powerful 265 cid Super Turbo-Fire V8, offering 205 horsepower—designed for the speed and durability needed in police work.
Chevy’s commitment to law enforcement has grown through the decades, with innovations like the 1991 B4C Camaro police cruiser and continual upgrades in safety, technology, and performance based on direct feedback from agencies.

Now, Chevrolet and GM Envolve are looking to the future with their 2025 police lineup. Leading the charge is the Blazer EV PPV, the first all-electric, pursuit-rated police vehicle, boasting an estimated 297-mile range.

Alongside it, the updated Tahoe PPV includes a 17.1-inch infotainment screen, HD Surround Vision, and enhanced safety features. Meanwhile, the Silverado PPV offers unmatched braking performance, a powerful 5.3L V8, off-road readiness with the Z71 package, and is the only pursuit-rated pickup offering an optional 2-inch lift.
According to GM Envolve’s Yuri Tello, the 2025 enhancements focus on sustainability, performance, and safety—reflecting Chevy’s dedication to supporting modern law enforcement with vehicles that serve evolving community needs.
