All three concept vehicles fall under China’s NEV (New Energy Vehicle) category, which includes EVs, plug-in hybrids, and range extenders. Volkswagen plans to launch over 20 NEV models in China by 2027 to meet growing demand and cover a broad range of customer needs.

Volkswagen brand CEO Thomas Schäfer emphasized the importance of local partnerships, faster development, and tailored innovations to maintain VW’s leadership in China’s evolving auto market.

Head Designer Andreas Mindt highlighted a new design direction that blends classic European aesthetics with the preferences of a new Chinese generation.

Auto Shanghai, held biennially since 1985, is one of the world’s largest auto shows. This year’s event runs from April 23 to May 2, with the first two days dedicated to media. It’s expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors and more than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world.
