Hyundai Motor Company has revealed the INSTEROID, a bold and playful concept car based on its popular INSTER sub-compact EV.
Designed to spark joy and push creative boundaries, the INSTEROID transforms the practical INSTER into a futuristic show car full of character and emotional appeal.
The name blends ‘INSTER’ with ‘STEROID,’ hinting at its amplified, muscular design and energetic personality.

Since the INSTER’s global debut in June 2024, the model has seen strong demand in Europe and Korea. INSTEROID builds on that success by reimagining the EV as a game-inspired, head-turning concept packed with unexpected design elements.
Every detail of INSTEROID — from its stylized control buttons and dashboard to the aggressive 21-inch wheels, wheel arch air vents, oversized spoiler, and pixel-style LEDs — has been crafted to evoke the high-octane aesthetic of racing video games.

It’s a car designed not just to be driven but to be experienced, fusing imaginative visuals with real-world performance cues.
Described by Hyundai as a “glitch in the automotive matrix,” INSTEROID represents a creative leap from digital fantasy to tangible innovation, illustrating the brand’s forward-thinking design ethos. The concept car is set for a full public reveal in early April 2025.
