Expansion Highlights
- Castle Bromwich, UK:
- A £41 million upgrade will transform the facility into the hub of SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) paint operations.
- New state-of-the-art paint booths will replace existing ones, reducing energy and water usage while minimizing paint waste by 30% through fully automated spray robots.
- Capacity will double to accommodate bespoke requests like the SV Bespoke Paint matching service, which allows clients to match their Range Rover SV to any color, including those of private jets or yachts.
- Nitra, Slovakia:
- A £24 million investment will create a universal electric paint line, introducing limitless color capabilities to the Defender and Discovery models.
- This facility will feature electric curing ovens, avoiding approximately 500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
- A new heat exchanger will save 2,250 tonnes of CO2e per year, equivalent to 2,200 barrels of oil, and reduce operational costs by £750,000 annually.
- The expansion will create 120 new jobs, with the first vehicles expected from the line in 2026.
Sustainability Innovations
- Castle Bromwich’s automated systems will enhance precision, reduce waste, and significantly cut emissions, while Slovakia’s electric-powered operations and smart controls will reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
- Both expansions aim to support JLR’s Reimagine strategy, targeting sustainable luxury production by optimizing energy and water efficiency across its facilities.
Meeting Growing Demand
JLR has experienced a surge in demand for personalized paint options, driven largely by its Range Rover lineup. Requests for bespoke and elevated palette colors have more than doubled since FY22, and Range Rover SV sales have also doubled this financial year. The expansions will support an additional 17,000 client orders annually while extending customization options to JLR’s other brands for the first time.
By balancing cutting-edge luxury with sustainability, JLR is preparing to meet future demand while moving closer to its long-term net zero emissions goals.
