Audi has unveiled the Q6 e-tron offroad concept, an electrifying prototype that reimagines off-road capabilities while showcasing the potential of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE).
Debuting at the World Cup weekend in Kitzbühel, Austria, the Q6 e-tron features cutting-edge portal axles and dual electric motors delivering a combined 380 kW of power, enabling it to conquer gradients of up to 100 percent with ease.

The prototype’s striking design includes a 160 mm (6.3 in) increased ride height and a 250 mm (9.8 in) wider track, giving it an imposing and progressive stance. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner describes the concept as a “highly emotive reinterpretation of quattro,” demonstrating the full potential of Audi’s electric vehicle platform. He added, “This vehicle can claim new ground, and we eagerly await customer reactions to this bold innovation.”
The highlight of the Q6 e-tron offroad concept lies in its newly designed portal axles, which increase wheel torque by 50 percent, far surpassing traditional designs that typically offer a 20–30 percent boost.
The system achieves a peak combined torque of 13,400 Nm (9,883 lb-ft), a remarkable increase of 4,400 Nm (3,245 lb-ft), ensuring unparalleled off-road prowess. Although the top speed is limited to 175 km/h (108 mph) to prioritize torque and climbing ability, the concept excels in tackling inclines of up to 45 degrees with exceptional control.
The Q6 e-tron offroad concept is based on the Audi Q6, the first production model on the PPE platform, which sets benchmarks for electric performance, range, and efficiency.
The concept introduces four portal axles, integrated into the wheel hubs, which required modifications to the suspension links for seamless functionality. The system also allows for precise torque distribution, offering “Vorsprung durch Technik” on any terrain.
The Q6 e-tron offroad concept will make its dynamic debut on February 1, 2025, at the F.A.T. Ice Race and across Audi Sport’s social media channels, giving enthusiasts a closer look at this bold step into the future of off-road electric mobility.
