Nguyen Hoang Anh, a logistics entrepreneur, embarked on an extraordinary 75-day journey covering 33,000 kilometers in his Porsche 911 Dakar.
Starting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Anh drove through Laos, China, and Mongolia, reaching the Gobi Desert and braving diverse terrains, extreme climates, and altitudes as high as 4,700 meters. His journey has since made him and his off-road sports car local celebrities.

The expedition showcased the capabilities of the limited-edition 911 Dakar, one of just 2,500 produced worldwide. Without modifications, the car tackled highways, gravel roads, and desert sands.
Anh’s route included iconic landmarks such as China’s Karakoram Highway, Mongolia’s Arkhangai Province, and Snow Town in Harbin, China. The adventure was a mix of high-performance driving, breathtaking landscapes, and cultural encounters, from serene Tibetan lakes to Mongolian eagle breeders.
The journey was not without challenges. Anh faced tire blowouts on sharp desert stones and navigated treacherous off-road paths. Yet, the 911 Dakar proved resilient, even earning fame on Chinese social media for its daring maneuvers.
Back in Vietnam, Anh reflected on the adventure of a lifetime. “This journey was about more than just driving—it was about creating memories and connecting with the world in a unique way,” he said.
A year later, Anh was invited to Porsche’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, to share his experiences with the 911 Dakar development team. His epic journey has cemented his bond with the car, which he affectionately calls his “eagle,” and inspired plans for more global adventures.
