At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, BMW has revealed the close-to-production version of its groundbreaking BMW Panoramic iDrive. Powered by the new BMW Operating System X, this innovative interface redefines in-car user experiences and will debut in all BMW models starting late 2025.
Frank Weber, BMW’s Board Member for Development, described the Panoramic iDrive as a blend of high-tech innovation and intuitive operation.
Central to the system is the BMW Panoramic Vision, a head-up display that spans the width of the windshield, offering personalized, driver-focused content visible to all passengers.

The system integrates with the optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display, delivering vital navigation and automated driving details directly in the driver’s line of sight.
The experience is further enhanced by a matrix-backed central display with customizable widgets, haptic feedback controls on the multifunction steering wheel, and shy-tech illuminated buttons. Together, these elements provide seamless, distraction-free operation aligned with BMW’s “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” ethos.
The new BMW Operating System X ensures constant evolution through advanced software capabilities, enabling frequent updates and extensive personalization.
Features include adaptable navigation prompts, tailored driving modes, and integration with third-party apps like Zoom. The system also introduces a more intelligent BMW Personal Assistant, leveraging large language models to respond to complex voice commands.
Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW’s Senior VP of Design, highlighted the system’s adaptability and personalization, ensuring every vehicle feels tailored to its driver. Complementing this is the HypersonX sound system, providing immersive, situation-specific audio for enhanced driving pleasure.
The Panoramic iDrive will launch with BMW’s Neue Klasse vehicles, marking a leap forward in automotive technology and user-centric design.
