Lucid Group and Panasonic Energy have announced that the highly anticipated Lucid Gravity Grand Touring SUV will feature Panasonic’s advanced lithium-ion EV battery cells.

These cutting-edge batteries contribute to the SUV’s exceptional combination of range, performance, and interior space, offering an EPA-estimated range of up to 450 miles¹ with a battery pack 40% smaller than competitors.

The Lucid Gravity, designed without compromise, blends the spaciousness of a full-size SUV with the agility of a mid-size footprint. With seating for up to seven and 120 cubic feet of cargo space², it delivers 828 horsepower, accelerates from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, and offers unparalleled versatility and driving performance.

Key to these achievements are Panasonic Energy’s next-generation 2170 cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells, featuring an industry-leading energy density of over 800Wh/L.

These high-performance batteries were developed in collaboration with Lucid to meet stringent standards for fast charging, safety, and longevity. The Lucid Gravity will be among the first vehicles to use these advanced cells at scale.

This partnership builds on the successful integration of Panasonic batteries in the Lucid Air Pure. The collaboration was established through multi-year agreements in 2022 and is further solidified with the production of the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, starting at $94,900³, in December 2024 at Lucid’s Arizona facility.

The more accessible Lucid Gravity Touring, priced from $79,900, will debut in late 2025, also using Panasonic’s batteries. Panasonic currently produces these cells in Japan, with plans to expand production to its Kansas facility.

Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson emphasized that the Gravity represents a breakthrough in sustainable mobility, combining sports car performance with SUV practicality and eco-conscious design. Panasonic Energy CEO Kazuo Tadanobu highlighted the partnership’s role in setting new EV industry benchmarks while promoting environmental sustainability.
