The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has cemented its place in automotive history by becoming the first American car to complete a sub-seven-minute lap at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Driven by Multimatic Motorsports’ Dirk Müller, the Mustang GTD recorded a certified lap time of 6:57.685, making it the fifth-fastest production sports car and one of only six in its class to achieve this feat.

Ford CEO Jim Farley, who set the ambitious goal at the Mustang GTD’s 2023 debut, celebrated the milestone, stating, “We’re proud to be the first American automaker with a car that can lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes, but we aren’t satisfied. We’ll be back.”
