Mercedes-Benz has unveiled an enhanced MANUFAKTUR programme, spotlighting its Sindelfingen site as a global hub for vehicle customisation and craftsmanship. The newly opened MANUFAKTUR Studio, part of the Sindelfingen factory complex, elevates the bespoke customer experience by combining traditional artistry with cutting-edge digital production technologies.
A New Era of Individualisation
The MANUFAKTUR programme allows customers to personalise select Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, and Mercedes-Maybach models with exclusive options, from unique paint finishes to premium interior materials. Now expanded with the MANUFAKTUR Studio, customers can witness their dream cars come to life, watching bespoke elements crafted and installed with meticulous precision.

At the Studio, innovative matrix production enables customisation for up to 20 vehicles per day across various models. Using autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and a digital twin system, vehicles move seamlessly between nine production clusters, allowing unparalleled flexibility. Late-stage modifications are possible, ensuring each vehicle matches customer specifications perfectly.
Blending Craftsmanship and Technology
The MANUFAKTUR team comprises highly trained artisans who excel in intricate detailing, from leather stitching to embroidery. Advanced AI aids in quality assurance, detecting irregularities in materials like leather, reducing strain on employees while maintaining precision.
The introduction of PixelPaint technology revolutionises custom vehicle paint jobs, using an inkjet-inspired system for high-resolution, multi-colour designs. This innovative process applies patterns with incredible accuracy, enabling customers to realise personalised artistic visions.
Expanded Options for the S-Class
Starting in 2025, the flagship S-Class will offer an expanded range of MANUFAKTUR-exclusive colours and features, underscoring the programme’s focus on top-end luxury. The customisation programme, already accounting for over 30% of top-end Mercedes-Benz sales in early 2024, will also expand to include Mercedes-AMG models, enhancing its appeal across luxury and performance segments.
Commitment to Excellence
With MANUFAKTUR, Mercedes-Benz merges heritage craftsmanship with futuristic production techniques, setting a new standard for luxury customisation. By enhancing the Sindelfingen site and integrating advanced manufacturing, Mercedes-Benz reaffirms its “Made in Sindelfingen” seal as a hallmark of quality and innovation.
