General Motors (GM) and EVgo have reached a significant milestone in their mission to expand public fast charging infrastructure across the United States. Together, they have surpassed 2,000 co-branded public fast charging stalls, solidifying their position as one of the largest public EV charging providers in the nation.
The 2,000th stall, located at a newly opened EVgo charging station in Murrieta, California, features five 350kW fast chargers capable of serving up to 10 electric vehicles simultaneously. Positioned off Interstate 215, this site is conveniently near retail, dining, and coffee shops, allowing drivers to recharge both their vehicles and themselves.

Nationwide Expansion for Convenience
Since the launch of their partnership, GM and EVgo have built fast charging stalls at over 390 locations across 45 metropolitan markets in 32 states, with a focus on accessible locations such as grocery stores, retail complexes, and city centers. The initiative is designed to serve a wide range of EV owners, including those without access to home charging, such as renters and residents of multifamily dwellings.
The collaboration is on track to complete 2,850 DC fast charging stalls, including 400 flagship stations in major cities across the country. These will be strategically located in states like California, Michigan, Texas, and New York, providing convenient, high-speed charging along highways and urban centers.
Doubling the Footprint
After opening their 1,000th stall in Woodbridge, Illinois, in August 2023, GM and EVgo have doubled their fast charging network in just over a year. Alongside GM’s suite of home charging solutions, these efforts make it easier for GM EV owners to confidently travel across the U.S., reinforcing GM’s commitment to making EVs practical for every driver.
Leadership Perspectives
Wade Sheffer, GM’s Vice President of Energy, remarked, “Our collaboration with EVgo underscores our dedication to providing EV drivers with the best possible experience by expanding reliable fast charging infrastructure across the country.” EVgo President Dennis Kish added, “As we deploy flagship destinations next year, we celebrate today’s milestone of 2,000 fast charging stalls built through our program with GM.”
