Opel has announced the rollout of ChatGPT-powered functionality in most of its passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs), enhancing the driving experience with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence.
The integration allows drivers and passengers to access a wealth of information, enjoy personalized assistance, and stay entertained with interactive features, all activated by the simple command, “Hey Opel.”

Next-Generation Infotainment with ChatGPT
Debuting in the new Opel Mokka, which premiered at the Zurich Motor Show, the AI-powered system transforms in-car interactions. ChatGPT can answer questions about topics ranging from science and pop culture to nutrition and music. It also offers practical assistance, such as suggesting restaurants based on preferences, answering trivia, or even creating quizzes to entertain passengers during long drives.
The Mokka’s infotainment system, equipped with a 10-inch digital driver display and a matching touchscreen as standard, incorporates ChatGPT for natural voice recognition. The AI adapts to driver preferences over time, suggesting destinations and routes based on prior habits.
Enhanced Driving Experiences Across the Opel Range
Beyond the Mokka, ChatGPT is also available in other Opel models, including the Grandland, Corsa, Astra, Astra Sports Tourer, Combo, and Zafira, as well as LCVs like the Combo and Vivaro. This feature is part of Opel’s Connect PLUS package, offering advanced infotainment and navigation capabilities.
Smarter Journeys with AI
The integration leverages generative AI developed by OpenAI and SoundHound’s Chat AI platform, allowing for precise and sophisticated interactions. Whether it’s identifying a song, detailing movie cast lists, or navigating unfamiliar cities, ChatGPT enhances convenience and enjoyment for all occupants.
Available in vehicles ordered after July 2023 or as an upgrade for existing owners, ChatGPT integration comes with a six-month trial through the Connect PLUS subscription, with options to extend for a fee.
