On November 11, 2024, thousands of colorful lanterns will once again light up Neckarpark in Stuttgart for the second annual lantern parade, following a successful debut in 2023.
Organized by the Mercedes-Benz Museum, in collaboration with VfB Stuttgart’s Fritzle Club, Luftballon parents’ magazine, and radio station DIE NEUE 107.7, this festive evening will welcome children and families to join the magic of lantern light.

The event will kick off at 5 pm on the Mercedes-Benz Museum hill, featuring music by the Bad Cannstatt music club. The parade begins with illuminated performances by “DUNDU – The Giants of Light” alongside beloved mascots Carlotta, Fritzle from VfB Stuttgart, and Luftikus from Luftballon, as well as a replica of the classic Benz Patent-Motorwagen.
The evening culminates with participants entering the MHP Arena in front of the famous Cannstatter Kurve for a celebration filled with traditional lantern songs, led by VfB announcer Holger Laser and DIE NEUE 107.7’s Nikolaus Böhm. Performances by artist Pauline and a special appearance by VfB legend Cacau add to the festive lineup. Refreshments will be available from 7 pm.
Last year’s event attracted 8,000 participants, setting a record in the region. Mercedes-Benz Museum Director Bettina Haussmann shared her excitement to continue building on that success with an expanded program in 2024. Participation is free, but advance registration is encouraged at mercedes-benz.com/laternenumzug.
