A smartphone company has taken the bizarre leap into the sports car industry – releasing a motor that could be described as a budget Ferrari.
The SU7 Ultra was launched on 29 October for £88,000.
It is just the second-ever motor released by Xiaomi – which claims to have received over 3,600 pre-orders for the car 10 minutes after registration opened.

The SU7 Ultra can do nought to sixty in 1.98 seconds, as reported by Luxury Auto News.
Finished in an eye-catching yellow exterior, the vehicle resembles the iconic look of a Ferrari.
It is equipped with a tri-motor configuration and track-optimised battery pack, which gives it a hair-raising horsepower of 1548PS.
The vehicle is also fit for track racing, having become the first Chinese-branded car to claim the title of “The Nürburgring Nordschleife World’s Fastest Four-Door Car.”
Xiaomi joined the already-crowded electric vehicle industry in March.
Since then, the business states that it has delivered a whopping 20,000 monthly units – alleged statistics that would put it on par with established brands such as Tesla and BYD.
“As the high-performance flagship EV of Xiaomi, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is designed for high-performance driving by combining exceptional performance with cutting-edge technology to deliver an extraordinary driving experience,” stated Xiaomi.
“It is perfect for both daily driving and hitting the track.
“It is built to be the fastest four-door mass-produced car currently available.
“Xiaomi SU7 Ultra features a track-optimised cooling system, ensuring it can complete two laps on the Nürburgring Nordschleife without overheating.”
