Nissan has announced that its cumulative global production of e-POWER vehicles has exceeded 1.5 million units as of October. Currently, e-POWER models are available in 68 markets worldwide.
The e-POWER system is a unique Nissan innovation, combining a small gasoline engine with a lithium-ion battery to power an electric motor that drives the wheels, providing a quiet, powerful, and responsive EV-like experience.

Introduced in Japan with the Note e-POWER in 2016, the technology has expanded to models like the Kicks, X-Trail, and Serena. In fiscal year 2023, 42.6% of Nissan’s Japan sales were e-POWER vehicles. China gained access to e-POWER in 2021 with the Sylphy and now also the X-Trail, while Europe saw the launch of e-POWER versions of the X-Trail and Qashqai SUVs in 2022, selling over 100,000 units by January. Plans are in place to introduce e-POWER to the U.S. and Canada by fiscal year 2026.
As of October 2024, Japan leads cumulative e-POWER production with 1,170,000 units, followed by Europe with 140,000, China with 60,000, and other markets with 150,000 units, bringing the global total to 1,520,000. Nissan aims to further enhance e-POWER’s competitiveness to meet diverse customer needs worldwide.
