The last ever Mercedes Gullwing on the planet is heading under the hammer with an estimated value of £2.7 million.
The 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is widely regarded as the most iconic and recognisable car ever made.
The magnificent motor was originally displayed 67 years ago at the Poznan International Trade Fair by Mercedes-Benz.

The car is kitted out with a 3.0 L, 2,996 cc, water-cooled, overhead cam, straight-six engine.
The engine powers the vehicle to a hair raising top speed of around 146 mph with a horsepower of 215.
Finished in its factory-correct colour combination of fire engine red with a Crème leather interior.
Despite its 67-year history, the vehicle has only been owned by four people with the latest owner having the motor for the past 25 years.
The car still boasts its original numbers-matching chassis, engine, body, gearbox, and front kingpins.
At the 2004 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Mercedes was awarded third class in the 300 SL class, as reported by Luxury Auto News.
The new buyer will receive a copy of its factory data card, a set of historic images, matching luggage and a full set of belly pans.
The car is set to feature at auction on 22 November in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
RM Sotheby’s, who are hosting the auction, stated: “An opportunity transcending mere ownership—much like the final game-worn jersey, the last home run ball, or the final work by Picasso.
“‘The Last Gullwing’ represents the ultimate in collecting; to possess the “last” of anything that defined an era is to hold a piece of history itself.
“The Last Gullwing offers a singular, storied opportunity for a collector to own the very last example of one of Mercedes-Benz’s most coveted models ever produced.”
