Bentley has successfully conducted the world’s first global media drive powered by sustainable eFuel, showcasing its commitment to reducing emissions while maintaining top-tier performance.
Held in Switzerland, the event marked the debut of the fourth-generation Continental GT Speed coupe and convertible, with 157 international guests experiencing the luxury grand tourer.
Notably, the vehicles were powered by a fuel blend that included 75% eFuel, sourced from the Haru Oni pilot plant in Chile, developed in collaboration with Porsche.
eFuel, a synthetic liquid fuel made from renewable energy and biogenic CO2, helped Bentley achieve a 93% reduction in vehicle emissions compared to previous events.
The combination of eFuel and renewable electricity for hybrid battery charging led to a 30% decrease in carbon emissions per guest over the seven-day drive across four iconic mountain passes in the Swiss Alps.
The Continental GT Speed’s performance, featuring an Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, impressed guests with smooth torque delivery and reduced emissions of 29 g/km CO2.
The global media drive is part of Bentley’s broader sustainability strategy, which also included environmentally focused accommodations and carbon offsets for international flights.
The new Continental GT Speed, now available for order, represents Bentley’s future journey towards full electrification, blending cutting-edge powertrain technology with exceptional luxury and sustainability efforts.
eFuels, like those used in this event, are seen as a bridge to sustainable mobility, allowing existing combustion engines to operate with significantly lower emissions. Bentley continues to explore bio-derived and synthetic fuels as part of its long-term environmental goals.
