The handover of the milestone van to FedEx, one of Mercedes-Benz’s largest global fleet customers, marks another step forward in the electrification of delivery services. FedEx is rolling out the eSprinter in four U.S. states as part of its growing electric fleet, building on a longstanding partnership that has helped establish the Sprinter’s popularity in North America.
The Charleston plant, Mercedes-Benz Vans’ only U.S. manufacturing site, has been assembling Sprinters since 2006 and underwent a major expansion in 2018 to accommodate third-generation models.

With over 1,600 employees and advanced tech such as driverless transport and digital training tools, the plant recently received a $50 million investment to support eSprinter production.
Since its 1995 debut, the Sprinter has set benchmarks in safety, performance, and versatility across three generations.

Today’s models offer over 1,000 configurations, advanced tech features like the MBUX system, and a variety of drivetrain options—including the all-electric eSprinter. In addition to Charleston, Sprinters are produced in Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde, Germany.

With this milestone, Mercedes-Benz Vans reaffirms its commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability, while continuing to meet the evolving needs of global fleet customers.
