The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has been named a finalist for the North American Car of the Year award, highlighting its blend of performance and innovation. Offered as both a sedan and hatchback for the first time, the Civic Hybrid features Honda’s award-winning two-motor hybrid system, delivering 200 horsepower, 232 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA-estimated 50 mpg in the city for Sport and Sport Touring trims.
This electrified variant is expected to make up 40% of Civic sales, reinforcing its role in Honda’s electrification strategy.

Honda’s hybrid technology, praised by WardsAuto as one of the “10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems,” powers not only the Civic but also hybrid versions of the Accord and CR-V, which together represent over half of their respective sales.
The system combines efficiency with performance and was instrumental in making the CR-V America’s best-selling hybrid SUV in 2023.
Built in North America, the Civic Hybrid’s powertrain is assembled in Ohio, continuing Honda’s legacy of domestic manufacturing. Nearly 12 million Civics have been produced in North America since 1982, with the 11th-generation Civic remaining a favorite among Gen Z and first-time buyers.
Recognized for its design, safety, and value, the Civic has previously won North American Car of the Year three times—in 2006, 2016, and 2022. With an electrified lineup that includes the Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and all-electric Prologue, Honda is committed to leading the way in sustainable mobility.
